THE SHELL
Colour is breed, not quality
Colour comes from the hen's breed. What's inside comes from how she lives.

The honest numbers
"FREE RANGE" HAS A LOOPHOLE
Australian law lets a farm run 10,000 hens per hectare and still print free range on the carton.6 Ellerslie runs 1,500.
Every dot is one hen the law would allow on a hectare. The bright dots are the hens Ellerslie actually runs.
01ACO CERTIFIED ORGANIC
Independently audited every year: feed, pasture, stocking density and processing.
02FEED MILLED ON FARM
DA Hall built their own feedmill in 1983. The organic, GMO-free mix is controlled from source to delivery.
03NO HIDDEN INPUTS
No hormones, no routine antibiotics, no cages. The organic standard prohibits them.
04EXTRA JUMBO
The largest certified organic egg on the Australian market. Every dozen is at least 800 grams.

The full story
Big Boys eggs come from Ellerslie Free Range Farms, a run of family properties within 45 kilometres of Millmerran. The farm is part of DA Hall & Co, started by Doug Hall in 1958. Nothing is white-labelled or blended from unnamed sheds. Every carton traces back to this one farm.

Why eggs earn their reputation
THE SCIENCE ON EGGS
Not marketing. Published numbers, sourced below.
82%Vitamin D
A serve of two eggs carries 82% of your daily vitamin D. Close to a quarter of Australian adults run short.1
6.3gComplete protein
A standard 60 g egg holds 6.3 g of protein with all nine essential amino acids. Big Boys run bigger.1
2xCholine
More choline per 100 g than any other common food. It drives brain development and memory.1,4
180mgOmega-3s
Per serve of two eggs. Heart, brain and eye health, without the fish.1
EYESLutein + zeaxanthin
The antioxidants that protect ageing eyes, better absorbed from eggs than from plants.5
LDL ↓Cholesterol, retested
A 2025 Australian trial: two eggs a day in a low saturated fat diet lowered bad LDL cholesterol.2
2xPasture pays
Penn State found pastured hens' eggs carried about twice the vitamin E and long-chain omega-3s of commercial eggs.3

Where to find them
WHY IT'S NOT AT COLES OR WOOLIES
Not in the big chains. That's a decision, not a gap.
01THE MATHS DOESN'T SCALE
A real 1,500-per-hectare farm lays a fraction of what a chain needs weekly. Push it to that volume and standards slide.
02CHAINS SQUEEZE FARMS
Supermarkets buy on volume and price. It's part of how free range came to mean 10,000 hens a hectare.6 Big Boys stayed out.
03INDEPENDENTS CHOOSE
Independent grocers, health food stores and farm shops back one named farm and keep the story on the carton.
FIND THEM NEAR YOU
Big Boys sells through independent stores across South East Queensland.
